According to El Diario Reforma of Mexico, Televisa is talking with all major US English language television networks to gauge the possibility of creating a new Hispanic focused television network in the US.

This is occurring at the same time that Televisa has asked for a large share of Univision Communications in exchange for additional programing that Univision Communications needs for their new television network using the recently acquired USA Networks (pending FCC approval).

The importance of the US Hispanic Consumer has become a major issue with the released of the Census 2000 populations figures, depicting the Hispanic population in the US as the largest minority group. A political and economic force the television networks need to address.
