Telemundo 47 WNJU received two Emmy Awards Nominations in the 44th annual New York Emmy Awards of The New York Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Science.

The pioneer Spanish TV Station of the Metropolitan area was nominated in the prestigious category of Outstanding Single Newscast along with Channel 2 News, WNBC Channel 4, WNYW Fox 5, WABC Channel 7, WWOR UPN 9 News, marking this the fifth nomination for Noticiero 47 in the last six years.

The telecast that got the attention of the academy members was "Fire in Edgewater" aired on August 30, 2000 at 11pm, with anchors Jorge Ramos and Carmen Dominicci, Ricardo Alvarez, News Director; Johanna Guerra, Executive Producer; Delines Battle, Producer.

The second nomination was in the category of Coverage of An Anticipated News Story for "Floyd Hits Long Island" with Ricardo Villarini, Reporter, and Hector Liriano, Producer.

The 44 Annual Emmy Award Gala will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2001, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
