Univision Communications Inc. announced that Stephen J. Solomon has resigned as President of Univision's Sports Division.
In announcing his resignation, Solomon said, "Working with Univision's Sports Division over the last year has been both exciting and rewarding, and I am proud to have played a role during a time of tremendous growth for the network. Univision is a first-class company with a unique presence in a fast growing market. However, at this time, I have decided to take some time off to spend with my family before I pursue other opportunities in the sports industry."
Commenting on Solomon's resignation, A. Jerrold Perenchio, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Univision said, "Steve has been a valuable asset to Univision's Sports Division, having played a significant role in our acquisition of the broadcast rights to the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup and 2001 and 2003 Copa America. He has a tremendous understanding of sports television and the business that drives it, and he has helped Univision effectively reach one of the most enthusiastic sports audiences in the world. We wish Steve all the best in his future endeavors."
