The champagne corks are popping at Spanish-language UHF- TV station Univision 41 (WXTV), prime-time access novela scores its highest ratings yet, boosting the Univision outlet to number three for the hour (7 pm to 8 pm ) in Gotham's overnight Nielsen ratings race.
"Carita de Angel" (Little Angel-Face), which premiered in the prime-time access hour weekdays on Univision on March 5, is the heartwarming story of a lonesome five-year-old girl, who copes with boarding school and the death her mother by creating an imaginary life in which there is a real puppy. Last night (Thursday, March 22) the new novela scored an astronomical Nielsen Station Index (NSI) rating of 5.1 and an 8 share, making Univision 41 the third highest rated TV station for the hour in New York.
The 5.1/8 scored by "Carita de Angel" last night is the highest rating and share yet for the new novela since its March 5 premiere. It is also the highest rating for Univision 41 in the time period since January 29, 2001. Univision 41's best-ever overnight prime-time access household rating is 5.8/10 scored by "Locura de Amor" (Crazy In Love), on January 26, 2001.
Each New York Nielsen Station Index rating point represents 69,356.1 TV households.
