Acento Advertising, headquartered in Los Angeles, recently proved at the 2002 Effie Awards that an independent Hispanic shop can beat the industry giants. Acento's "2001 Nissan Hispanic Spokesperson" campaign for Nissan Southwest Region, targeting Southern California Hispanics, took one of the top EFFIEs in Automotive/Retail, competing against English-language campaigns and global agencies in one of the hottest categories in this year's competition.

The bronze EFFIE was awarded to Acento in recognition of its work helping Nissan sales reach a 37% penetration among Southern California Hispanics, the highest amongst all import and domestic brands. The Effie Awards, presented annually by the New York American Marketing Association, is the only national award to recognize creative achievement in meeting and exceeding advertising objectives.
